Early Career and Musical Development
Okura entered the entertainment industry after his cousin submitted a resume on his behalf. Early experiences included the stage production Kyo to Kyo between 1997 and 1998. By 2001, he was associated with the unit M.A.O. and later joined V.West, a group that transitioned into the ensemble Kanjani Eight by 2002. Okura committed to intensive drum training to fulfill his role within the band, eventually debuting with the single Nanika Iroha Bushi in 2004.

Beyond his musical commitments, Okura has maintained a steady presence in Japanese television and film. His television credits include roles in dramas such as Yasuko to Kenji, ROMES, and GM Odore Doctor. He transitioned to cinema in 2010, portraying the character Tsuruoka in the film Ooku. Throughout his career, he has balanced ensemble roles with lead appearances in various productions including The Count of Monte Cristo and Shitteru wife.
Production and Business Ventures
Okura has increasingly focused on the production side of the industry. In 2018, he co-directed the Kansai Johnny's Jr. X’mas Party, building on a long-standing series of regional events. He currently serves as a producer for the group Naniwa Danshi. In 2024, he co-directed the Starto Entertainment concert series WE ARE! Let's get the party STARTO!! and established J-pop Legacy, a company dedicated to nurturing new talent where he serves as President.
Personal Life and Health
The performer has faced various health challenges throughout his career. In 2016, he underwent medical treatment for an intestinal obstruction. Later, in 2022, he suspended professional activities to address a diagnosis of low-tone sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus. On February 24, 2025, it was officially announced that Okura had married a woman outside of the entertainment industry and that the couple is expecting their first child.
