Krämer specializes in 17th-century rationalism, the philosophy of language, and media theory. Her inquiries extend to the history of computation and digitality. A core component of her intellectual output involves the genesis of operative symbol use, a concept she has applied to the historiography of structural mechanics. She is a founding member of the Hermann von Helmholtz-Zentrum für Kulturtechnik at Humboldt University of Berlin, where she led projects within the research group titled Image, Script, Figure. Additionally, she participates as a corporation partner in the project exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on science.
