Born in 1975 in Hyderabad to Shubeer Sen, an Indian Air Force Wing Commander, and Subhra Sen, she grew up within a military and creative household. At eighteen, she entered the Femina Miss India contest in 1994, emerging as the winner. This victory qualified her for the global stage. During the Miss Universe 1994 pageant, she consistently ranked in the top tier of participants throughout the preliminary and final rounds.
