Sofyan Amrabat is a professional defensive midfielder currently competing for the Dutch Eredivisie club Ajax. Born in Huizen in 1996, he holds citizenship in both the Netherlands and Morocco. Early Development and Dutch Football
Amrabat developed his skills within the youth system at Utrecht, joining the organization in 2007 after departing HSV De Zuidvogels. He officially transitioned to professional football by debuting for Utrecht against Vitesse on 2 November 2014. After 54 total appearances, he transferred to Feyenoord in 2017 on a four-year contract, a move valued at €4 million.

Following a stint at Club Brugge in 2018, Amrabat moved to Italy. He spent time on loan at Hellas Verona during the 2019 season before the club exercised a purchase option in January 2020. Verona immediately sold him to Fiorentina for €20 million. His tenure in Italy included a 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final appearance. In 2023, he joined Manchester United on loan, where he secured an FA Cup victory. His subsequent career path included a stint at Fenerbahçe and a move to Ajax in 2026.
International Career
Amrabat initially represented the Netherlands at the under-15 level before committing to Morocco. He featured for the Moroccan under-17 squad during the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup. His senior international debut occurred on 28 March 2017 against Tunisia. He has since participated in three FIFA World Cups—2018, 2022, and 2026—and multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the latter competition in 2025.
