Background and Education
Born in 1977 in Jyväskylä, Finland, Oksanen was raised in the Halssila district. Her father worked as an electrician, while her mother was an engineer from Estonia. She completed her studies at the University of Jyväskylä and the University of Helsinki before attending the Theatre Academy Helsinki, where she graduated in 2000.

Her career spans multiple forms, including librettos and plays such as The Blue-cheeked girls and I love you already. Her opera work includes the libretto for Kaija Saariaho’s Innocence, which premiered at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in 2021.
