Sandara Park began her rise to prominence in 2004 as a contestant on the Philippine talent program Star Circle Quest. After finishing as the competition's runner-up, she pursued a multifaceted career spanning acting and music across both the Philippines and South Korea, eventually gaining international recognition as a core member of the prominent K-pop girl group 2NE1.
Early Career in the Philippines
Born in Busan on November 12, 1984, Park moved to the Philippines with her family in 1994. Encouraged by actress Pauleen Luna, she auditioned for Star Circle Quest in 2003. She earned a contract with Star Magic after placing second in the talent search. Her film debut in the 2004 romantic comedy Bcuz of U secured her the Best New Actress award at the 21st PMPC Star Awards for Movies. She continued her acting career with roles in Can This Be Love, D' Lucky Ones, and Super Noypi, the latter of which was an entry in the 32nd Metro Manila Film Festival. Simultaneously, she launched a music career, releasing a self-titled EP that achieved platinum status by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry, notably featuring the dance track In or Out.

Park returned to South Korea in 2007 and signed with YG Entertainment. In 2009, she debuted as a member of 2NE1 alongside Bom, CL, and Minzy. The group achieved immediate impact with hits like Fire and the chart-topping I Don't Care, which earned Song of the Year at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards. During this tenure, Park also pursued solo projects, releasing the single Kiss and appearing in various music videos for artists including G-Dragon and Taeyang. Between 2011 and 2013, 2NE1 released a series of successful singles, including I Am the Best and Falling in Love, securing the group a position on the US Billboard World Digital Songs chart.
Television and Transitions
Following 2NE1’s 2015 hiatus, Park transitioned into television presenting and acting. She co-hosted the variety show Two Yoo Project Sugar Man and served as a judge on the Philippine talent show Pinoy Boyband Superstar. Her acting work extended to the digital sphere with the 2016 web series Dr. Ian, which earned her a Best Actress award at a Korean web festival. After 2NE1 disbanded in 2016, Park remained with YG Entertainment until 2021. She subsequently joined Abyss Company, released a solo digital EP in 2023, and resumed group activities in 2024 following the reformation of 2NE1.
