Beyond the Hotel Unique, his portfolio includes the Hotel Renaissance and the Edifício Santa Catarina, which sits on Avenida Paulista. He also oversaw the design of the Tomie Ohtake Cultural Institute and an adjacent commercial tower. His practice reached beyond Brazil, with international recognition marked by his design for the Embassy of Brazil in Tokyo, situated in the Minato Ward.
Personal Life and Final Years
Throughout his life, Ohtake was married twice, first to the Brazilian actress Célia Helena, who passed away in 1997, and subsequently to the architect Silvia Vaz. He was a father to two children, Elisa and Rodrigo. Ohtake continued his work until his later years, remaining a resident of São Paulo until he died on 27 November 2021 at the age of 83.
