Rousey began her judo training at age 11 and eventually qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Following her 2008 Olympic success, she shifted to mixed martial arts. She debuted with King of the Cage in 2011 before moving to Strikeforce. Upon joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), she became the first female fighter signed to the promotion and served as the inaugural Women's Bantamweight Champion. She held the record for the most title defenses by a female in UFC history at six. Rousey retired from MMA in 2016 and gained induction into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
Professional Wrestling and Acting
In 2018, Rousey signed with WWE, marking her entry into professional wrestling. Her tenure, which lasted until 2023, included winning the Raw Women's Championship and the SmackDown Women's Championship multiple times. She also captured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship alongside Shayna Baszler, unifying both WWE and NXT titles.
