Early Development and Breakthrough
Born in Stockholm on 12 June 1979, Carlsson grew up within an independent theatre group environment. Her initial professional work included voice acting in the 1989 film The Journey to Melonia. After being discovered by singer Meja, she signed with Ricochet Records Sweden at age 14. Her debut studio album, Robyn Is Here, released in 1995, established her in the Swedish market before achieving international reach in 1997 with Billboard Hot 100 hits like Show Me Love and Do You Know (What It Takes).

Following the release of her second album, My Truth, and her third, Don't Stop the Music, Carlsson sought greater artistic autonomy. Dissatisfied with her lack of control at BMG and Jive Records, she formed her own label, Konichiwa Records. This shift allowed her to pursue a distinct creative trajectory, which materialized with the 2005 release of the self-titled album Robyn, featuring the UK chart-topping single With Every Heartbeat.
Body Talk and Sustained Activity
In 2010, the artist released a trilogy of mini-albums that culminated in the studio album Body Talk, which included her signature track, Dancing On My Own. Subsequent projects involved collaborative efforts, such as the EP Do It Again with Röyksopp and Love Is Free with her group Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique. Her discography further expanded with the solo releases Honey in 2018 and the 2026 album Sexistential, which yielded the hit single Dopamine.
