Ramy Bensebaini

Amir Selmane Rami Bensebaini began his professional football path within the youth ranks of Paradou AC in 2008 before entering the senior squad five years later. Since those early days in Constantine, the Algerian defender has built a European career spanning leagues in Belgium, France, and Germany, representing national and club teams at the highest levels of competition.

Early Career and European Loans

Bensebaini signed his first senior contract with Paradou AC, though his development soon moved to foreign leagues. During the 2014–15 season, he played 23 league matches for the Belgian club Lierse. Following this loan, he gained experience in French Ligue 1 with Montpellier for the 2015–16 season. In July 2016, he transitioned to Rennes on a four-year agreement, marking a period of stability that culminated in a Coupe de France title in 2019.

Bundesliga Tenure

In August 2019, Bensebaini moved to Germany to join Borussia Mönchengladbach for 8 million euros. His Bundesliga debut arrived against 1. FC Köln, followed by a goal against Werder Bremen in November of that year. A highlight occurred in December 2019, when he scored twice in a victory over Bayern München. His contributions extended to the UEFA Champions League, where he converted a penalty against Inter Milan in October 2020. He remained with Gladbach until the conclusion of the 2022–23 campaign.

Borussia Dortmund and International Play

A free transfer brought Bensebaini to Borussia Dortmund in June 2023, where he signed a four-year contract. His official debut took place in August 2023 during a DFB Pokal match against Schott Mainz. Internationally, he first represented Algeria in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations match against Mauritania. He was part of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations winning squad and was selected by Vladimir Petković for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
