FranceNet, one of the first internet service providers in France, emerged in 1994 under the co-founding direction of Rafi Haladjian. Born in 1961 in Beirut, Lebanon, he transitioned from a background in linguistics and semiotics to become a French entrepreneur, inventor, and computer scientist operating within the rapidly evolving landscape of telecommunications and connected technologies.
Early Telecommunications Career
Haladjian initiated his professional path within the telecommunications sector during the early 1980s. This period was defined by the Minitel system, a precursor to the modern internet that operated as a vital online service in France. These foundational experiences in early digital connectivity informed his subsequent shift toward internet infrastructure and wireless networking.

Following the creation of FranceNet, the company underwent a rebranding process to become Fluxus before being sold in 2001. Haladjian subsequently turned his focus to wireless network initiatives through the launch of Ozone. This project concentrated on the expansion of Wi-Fi access in Paris by installing antennas on rooftops to ensure continuous connectivity that bypassed the limitations of traditional fixed hotspots.
Internet of Things and Device Innovation
In 2003, he co-founded the company Violet, which produced the Nabaztag. He expanded this focus in 2009 by establishing Sen.se. By 2014, this new venture introduced Mother, a connected home hub created to track and monitor daily household activities through the use of sensors.
Recognition
The professional contributions of Haladjian in the technology sector were formally recognized in 2017 when he was named a Knight of the Legion of Honour. He maintains his status as an active figure in the technology business community, holding French citizenship.
