Philippe Crouzet held the position of chairman of the management board at the French industrial firm Vallourec between April 2009 and March 2020. During his eleven-year tenure at the helm of the Euronext-listed company, he managed complex operations before Edouard Guinotte assumed the leadership role following his departure.
Academic Foundation
Born in 1956 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Crouzet pursued a trajectory common to many French business leaders of his generation. He attended Lycée Pasteur before entering Sciences Po, graduating in 1976. He subsequently attended the École nationale d'administration, completing his studies there in 1981.

Crouzet began his corporate career in 1986 at Saint-Gobain as the director of corporate planning. By 1989, he transitioned to the role of general manager for the paper business unit, Papeteries de Condat. His responsibilities expanded throughout the 1990s as he served as the general delegate for Spain and Portugal from 1992 to 1996. He later directed the ceramics division until 2000. Before his departure from the group, he held senior vice-presidency roles overseeing finance, purchasing, information systems, and the building distribution sector between 2005 and 2009.
Public Service and Social Initiatives
Before his extensive private sector career, he served as a counsel, or Maître des requêtes, to the Conseil d'État. Beyond his commercial activities, Crouzet founded and presided over ARES, an association that focuses on the professional reinsertion of socially impaired individuals within the Île-de-France region. He is married to Sylvie Hubac, who functioned as the Chief of Staff for President François Hollande from 2012 to 2015.
