Otto Addo

Ghanaian footballer, coach and scout

Born on 9 June 1975 in Hamburg, Otto Addo developed a dual-career trajectory as a professional association football player and international coach. A product of the Gymnasium Hummelsbüttel, he balanced German and Ghanaian citizenship throughout his career, representing the Ghana national team on the world stage while navigating the competitive German football league system.

Early Career and Hannover 96

Addo began his professional path in 1991 at Hamburger SV before moving to Bramfelder SV. In 1993, he joined VfL 93 Hamburg, where he accumulated 80 league matches and four goals over three years. A 1996 transfer to Hannover 96 marked a significant step in his development. Playing alongside Fabian Ernst and Gerald Asamoah, Addo helped the team achieve promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 1998, scoring seven goals in 30 appearances during that debut season.
