Studio PER provided the foundational structure for Òscar Tusquets to begin his architectural career in 1964, collaborating alongside Josep Bonet i Bertran, Cristian Cirici i Alomar, and Lluís Clotet i Ballús. This partnership lasted two decades, establishing a trajectory for a career that encompasses architecture, painting, design, and editorial work within his native Spain.
Architectural Education and Early Career
Born in Barcelona in 1941, Tusquets completed his formal training at the German School of Barcelona and the Escola de la Llotja. He furthered his studies at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, graduating from the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona in 1965. Before founding his independent practice, he gained professional experience working in the studios of Federico Correa and Alfons Milà i Sagnier.

The portfolio of Tusquets includes a diverse range of civic and commercial structures. Significant examples of his architectural output include the Torre Copisa and the Hotel Barcelona Princess. His institutional work features the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, completed between 1993 and 1997. Additionally, he undertook restoration and extension projects for the Palau de la Música Catalana in 1982 and 1989, working in partnership with Carles Díaz.
Editorial and Design Contributions
Beyond his structural designs, Tusquets co-founded the publishing house Tusquets Editores with Beatriz de Moura in 1968. He is also a recognized author, having written numerous books including 'Más que discutible' (1994), 'Todo es comparable' (1998), 'Dios lo ve' (2000), 'Dalí y otros amigos' (2003), and 'Contra la desnudez' (2007). His design work extends to furniture, most notably his collection of rattan chairs.
Honors and Recognition
Tusquets has received several distinctions throughout his career for his contributions to the arts and architecture. These include the Saint George's Cross in 1987, the Premio Nacional de Diseño in 1988, which he shared with Enric Satué, and the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts. He has also been awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
