Olivier Giroud

Olivier Jonathan Giroud began his professional journey in the youth ranks of Grenoble before establishing himself as a prolific striker across the top European leagues. Born on 30 September 1986 in Chambéry, France, he progressed through the French football pyramid, ultimately securing major honors both at the club level and on the international stage with the national team.

Early Career and Domestic Breakthrough

After developing in the Grenoble academy, Giroud signed his first professional contract at age 21. His initial breakthrough occurred at Tours, where he was named the 2010 Ligue 2 Player of the Year. He transitioned to Montpellier in a move worth €2 million, contributing to the club's Ligue 1 title and finishing the season as the league's leading goalscorer in 2012.

European Club Competition

Giroud moved to Arsenal, where he won three FA Cups and surpassed 100 goals. In 2018, he joined Chelsea for £18 million, securing an FA Cup, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Champions League. Following a 2021 move to AC Milan, he helped the side secure the 2021–22 Serie A title. After a period with Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC, he returned to France to play for Lille.

International Representation

Making his international debut in 2011, Giroud earned 137 caps for the France national team. He participated in seven major tournaments, including a victory at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. His international career includes finishing as runner-up in both UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2022 World Cup, receiving the Bronze Boot in both instances. He is the second-highest goalscorer in French national team history.
