Education and Early Development
Born in Kuala Lumpur on 19 November 1980 to politicians Anwar Ibrahim and Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, she attended Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Damansara and later Sekolah Menengah Assunta. Her academic trajectory included studies at Universiti Teknologi Petronas and Universiti Tenaga Nasional, where she obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in 2004. She concluded her formal education in May 2007, earning a Master’s degree in international relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

She entered the Dewan Rakyat in 2008 after defeating the incumbent Women's Minister in the Lembah Pantai constituency. During her tenure, she championed multiracial inclusivity and government accountability, moving away from Malaysia's traditional race-based political structures. She transitioned to representing Permatang Pauh in 2018. Throughout her legislative career, she focused on technical and vocational education, parliamentary oversight, and poverty reduction studies, while also introducing private member's bills concerning media regulation and the Sedition Act.
Party Leadership and Advocacy
Appointed the youngest vice president of the People's Justice Party (PKR) in 2010, she remained active in internal party governance and policy reform. Following her departure from parliament in 2022, she took on roles as an economic and social policy adviser and chaired the Social & Economic Research Initiative. By 2025, she assumed the position of deputy president of PKR, prioritizing grassroots engagement and party unity. Her advocacy work has spanned national prison reform, Palestinian rights, and the enhancement of legal protections for families.
