Raised in Great Neck, New York, Blonsky is the daughter of school aide Karen and municipal water district worker Carl. During her youth, she moved between several educational institutions, including Great Neck North Middle School and John L. Miller Great Neck North High School, eventually enrolling at the Village School. Her practical training occurred at the William A. Shine Great Neck South High School, where she participated in the after-school theatre program. Her repertoire there included roles in productions of Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd, Kiss Me, Kate, and the lead role in the opera Carmen.
