Neil El Aynaoui entered the professional ranks at Nancy, securing his initial contract on 3 June 2021. The central midfielder, born in France on 2 July 2001, holds dual citizenship with Morocco. His transition from the youth academy to senior competition marked the beginning of a career that subsequently spanned top-flight leagues across Europe, including stops in France, Italy, and Germany.

Early Career in France

After joining the Nancy youth setup at age 18, El Aynaoui earned his first professional deal in mid-2021. His competitive debut occurred shortly thereafter on 31 July 2021, during a Ligue 2 match against Toulouse. Seeking progression, he transferred to Lens on 29 June 2023, signing a four-year agreement. His tenure at Lens saw him record his first goal for the club on 28 October 2023 against FC Nantes.

International Competition and Serie A

El Aynaoui opted to represent the Morocco national team. He received a call-up to the U23 squad in September 2023 before joining the senior side for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. During that tournament's final, he played through an eye injury while wearing a bandage. His efforts contributed to Morocco's victory. He later earned a place in the 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Domestically, he moved to Roma on 20 July 2025 on a five-year contract, debuting against Bologna as a substitute for El Shaarawy. He registered his first Roma goal in a Europa League fixture against Midtjylland on 27 November 2025.

Recent Club Developments

On 1 September 2026, El Aynaoui expanded his experience by joining Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. This move was structured as a loan from Roma, incorporating an option for Leipzig to purchase the player. His professional trajectory now includes appearances in Ligue 1, Serie A, and the Bundesliga.
