Born in Kutaisi in 1987, she established herself as a significant force within international chess through individual and team tournament success over several decades.
Early Competitive Success
Dzagnidze demonstrated proficiency early in her career. Following her 1999 victory, she achieved the gold medal at the 2003 World Girls Under 20 Championship, finishing two points clear of her competitors. By 2005, she participated in the sixth Lausanne Young Masters. In 2009 and 2011, she received the prize for the best female player at the Gibraltar Chess Festival.

Her performance at the July 2010 FIDE Women's Grand Prix in Jermuk resulted in a tournament victory, where she won seven games and drew four. This result placed her 1.5 points ahead of Tatiana Kosintseva. In 2017, she secured the European Women's Individual Championship in Riga and the Women's World Blitz Chess Championship held in Riyadh. During 2020, she tied for first place in the third leg of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2019-20 in Lausanne.
National Team Representation
As a member of the Georgian national team, Dzagnidze competed in multiple editions of the Women's Chess Olympiad, the Women's World Team Chess Championship, and the Women's European Team Chess Championship. Her team earned a gold medal in Dresden in 2008, where she scored 7 out of 10 points. At the 2014 Olympiad in Tromsø, she earned an individual gold medal as the top player on board one. She also won an individual gold medal on board four during the 2007 European Team Championship.
Awards and Recognition
In 2018, she received the honorary Caissa award, recognized as the best female player of the year 2017. The award, crafted by the Lobortas Classic Jewelry House, was presented during the closing ceremony of the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in Saint Petersburg.
