Muhtar Kent

Turkish-American businessperson (born 1952)

A 1978 newspaper advertisement initiated Muhtar Kent's long association with The Coca-Cola Company, where he began by driving trucks across Turkey to master distribution and logistics. This practical grounding in the company's foundational systems preceded his ascent through international leadership roles, eventually securing his appointment as chief executive officer and chairman of the global corporation.

Early Education and Background

Born in 1952 in New York City, Kent is the son of Necdet Kent, who served as the consul-general of Turkey. His formal education included attendance at the English High School for Boys in 1968, followed by his graduation from Tarsus American College in Mersin in 1971. He subsequently pursued higher education at the University of Hull and completed an MBA at the Bayes Business School in London.
