Myers joined Saturday Night Live on January 21, 1989, serving as a repertory player for six seasons until 1995. Transitioning to film, Myers debuted with the 1992 adaptation of Wayne's World, a character he refined during his time on television. He subsequently achieved commercial success with the Austin Powers franchise, where he portrayed multiple roles including the title character, Dr. Evil, and Fat Bastard across three films released between 1997 and 2002. His filmography also includes voicing the title character in the Shrek series and starring in the 2003 adaptation of The Cat in the Hat. In later years, he appeared in Bohemian Rhapsody and created the 2022 Netflix series, The Pentaverate.
Directorial and Professional Recognition
Myers expanded his professional scope into directing with the 2013 documentary Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.
