Swedish-Chilean association football player

Miiko Albornoz began his professional football career at IF Brommapojkarna, progressing through youth ranks before joining the first team in 2007. International Allegiances

Although he represented Sweden at various youth levels from 2005 to 2013, Albornoz declined a senior call-up from Erik Hamren. He opted to represent Chile, the nation of his father. He earned his first cap on 22 January 2014 against Costa Rica, scoring the opening goal in a 4–0 victory. He was subsequently named to the 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Legal Issues

In November 2012, Albornoz was arrested in Malmö following allegations of statutory rape involving a 14-year-old girl. He admitted to the act and was found guilty in February 2013, receiving a suspended sentence. Following a period of suspension from all team activities imposed by Malmö FF, he returned to the squad in April 2013.

Career Progression

Following his time in Germany, Albornoz moved to the Chilean Primera División to play for Colo-Colo in 2021, where he helped win the Copa Chile. His career path later led to Vejle in Denmark and a training spell with Europa Point in Gibraltar. Eventually, he returned to Sweden to join Essinge IK, playing under the management of his older brother, Mauricio.
