Early Career and Initial Success
Fourcade took up biathlon in 2002 and debuted internationally in 2006. Competing alongside his brother, Simon Fourcade, he gained recognition at the 2007 Junior World Championships with a bronze medal in the relay. He earned his first World Cup points during the 2008-2009 season at Hochfilzen. By the 2009-2010 season, his consistent performance secured him a spot on the French team for the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he captured a gold medal in the mass start.

He claimed his first overall World Cup victory in the 2011-2012 season, a feat he would repeat six more times. His success extended to individual disciplines, where he secured multiple crystal globes. In the 2012-2013 season, his shooting accuracy reached 89 percent as he accumulated victories in venues ranging from Sochi to Khanty-Mansiysk.
Military Service and Institutional Roles
Beyond his athletic achievements, Fourcade has maintained a career in the French Army. He graduated from the High Mountain Military School in Chamonix in 2014 and received a commission as a sous-lieutenant in 2017. Following his retirement from sport, he turned his focus to sports governance. He served as president of the Athletes' Commission for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and joined the International Olympic Committee in 2022.
