Her move into high-profile cinema included the 1977 release Black Sunday, where she portrayed a Palestinian terrorist. She featured alongside William Holden in the 1978 Billy Wilder drama Fedora, and collaborated with Marcello Mastroianni on the 1987 film Dark Eyes, marking a shift toward European cinematic projects.
Theatre and Directorial Contributions
In 2001, she earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress for her portrayal of Mrs. Bertholt in a Broadway adaptation of Judgment at Nuremberg. Beyond acting, she established herself as an opera director, beginning with Dialogues des Carmélites in 1999 for Opéra national du Rhin. Her work in this field expanded to productions of Lucia di Lammermoor and a 2004 staging of Don Giovanni at the Metropolitan Opera.
