In 2007, Yulianti emerged as a dominant team player, reaching the quarterfinals of the Indonesian Super Series. She entered the World Championships as the 15th seed. Her year concluded with a significant victory at the SEA Games in Thailand, where she defeated Adriyanti Firdasari. In 2008, she helped the Indonesian Uber Cup team reach their first final in 14 years, contributing to victories over Japan, Hong Kong, and Germany before a final loss to China.
The 2008 Olympic Campaign
Competing as an unseeded player at the 2008 Summer Olympics, Yulianti achieved an unexpected breakthrough. She survived a match point against Juliane Schenk in the opening round and later defeated Tine Rasmussen. In the quarterfinals, she saved eight game points against Saina Nehwal to reach the semifinals. Although she lost to gold medalist Zhang Ning, she secured the bronze medal by defeating Lu Lan in the playoff match.
Later Career Challenges
Following her Olympic success, Yulianti continued to compete in Super Series events, notably defeating Wong Mew Choo at the Japan Open and Zhu Lin at the French Open. However, her 2009 season was hindered by injuries sustained late the previous year. After returning to play in June, she struggled to maintain her previous form, eventually representing Indonesia in the Sudirman Cup where she achieved a single match victory against Sayaka Sato.
