Marco Mengoni

Marco Mengoni entered the Italian music industry in 2009 after winning the third season of the talent competition X Factor. His career has since spanned over 2.8 million record sales within Italy, characterized by fifteen entries in the national Top 10 Singles Chart and seven consecutive albums reaching the top position on the official national charts.

Early Development and X Factor Success

Born in 1988 in Ronciglione, Mengoni began singing lessons at age fourteen while studying industrial design. He later moved to Rome to pursue a degree in languages, supporting himself through work as a barman and performer in piano bars. His professional trajectory shifted significantly in 2009 when he joined the X Factor series, eventually securing a recording contract valued at 300,000 euros after being mentored by Morgan.

Professional Breakthrough and Festival Appearances

Following his television victory, Mengoni released the extended play Dove si vola, which topped the Italian Top Digital Downloads chart. He became a fixture at the Sanremo Music Festival, placing third in 2010 with the song Credimi ancora. His influence grew with the EP Re matto, which held the number one spot on the Italian Albums Chart for four consecutive weeks and launched a 56-show concert tour.

Studio Albums and International Recognition

Mengoni transitioned to full-length studio production with Solo 2.0 in 2011, a project featuring collaborations with Neffa and Dente. His discography expanded throughout the decade with successful releases including Prontoacorrere and the dual project consisting of Parole in circolo and Le cose che non ho. By 2018, his album Atlantico extended his streak of consecutive chart-topping records.

Sanremo and Eurovision Contests

The singer achieved notable success at the Sanremo Music Festival, winning the competition in 2013 with L'essenziale and again in 2023 with Due vite. These victories facilitated his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, where he represented Italy in Malmö and later in Liverpool. Throughout his career, he has performed in Italian, Spanish, and English.
