In 1987, while serving as a lecturer for the Znanie organization, Fedun traveled to Kogalym and encountered Vagit Alekperov, the director of Kogalymneftegaz. Following Alekperov's appointment as deputy minister of the oil and gas industry in 1990, Fedun moved to Moscow to assist him. By 1992, he began working in the private sector, founding the consultancy firm Neftkonsult and the brokerage house Lukoil Reserve Invest. In 1995, he was named vice-president of Lukoil, a position he retained until his retirement in 2022.
Leadership at FC Spartak Moscow
Fedun assumed the role of president at FC Spartak Moscow in 2004, serving as a primary shareholder. During his tenure, he invested significant capital, which facilitated the construction of the Spartak Academy and the home stadium known as Lukoil Arena. The team secured several honors, including the 2017 Russian Super Cup and the 2021–22 Russian Cup. In August 2022, he resigned from his position and transferred his 100% stake in the club back to Lukoil.
Awards and Recognition
His professional activities in business and development have been acknowledged by the Russian government through several state honors. These include the Order of Honour and the Order 'For Merit to the Fatherland' in both the 3rd and 4th classes. He also received the Russian Federation Presidential Certificate of Gratitude for his contributions.
