Early Life and Training
Born in Warsaw in 1953, Krauze began his formal preparation for the industry at the National Film School in Łódź. He completed his cinematography studies there during the 1970s. His early career included several projects throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, such as Pierwsze kroki, Symetrie, and Elementarz, which served as his introduction to professional filmmaking.

Krauze left Poland in 1980, returning three years later to resume his creative output within the domestic sector. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, he collaborated with various production studios. His industry standing grew significantly in 1997 when the magazine Życie named him its Man of the Year. Beyond his directorial contributions, he maintained a presence in the field by acting in films directed by his contemporaries.
Professional Honors and Final Years
Throughout his life, Krauze held memberships with the Stowarzyszenie Filmowców Polskich and the Polish Film Academy. His contributions to national culture earned him distinction as an Officer and later a Commander of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He also received the Paszport Polityki award. Following a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2006, he continued working on projects including Plac Zbawiciela and Papusza until his death in Warsaw on 24 December 2014, at the age of 61.
