Källström transitioned to French football in 2004, joining Rennes. Over two-and-a-half seasons, he scored 20 league goals in 83 appearances. In 2006, he moved to Lyon for approximately €8 million. During his time at Lyon, he contributed to successive league titles and a 2008 Coupe de France victory. He appeared regularly in the UEFA Champions League, featuring in the side that reached the semi-finals in 2010. His versatility later saw him occasionally deployed as a left-back before his departure in 2012.
International and Late Career
Throughout his career, Källström represented Sweden in four European Championships and the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
