Urban relocated to Nashville in 1992. He initially formed a band called The Ranch, which released a studio album via Capitol Nashville in 1997 and placed two singles on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. He gradually established himself as a session musician, providing guitar work for artists including Garth Brooks and Charlie Daniels. His breakthrough arrived with his second eponymous album in 1999, which was certified platinum by the RIAA and featured his first chart-topping single, "But for the Grace of God."
Studio Albums and Collaborative Success
Over the subsequent decades, Urban maintained a consistent release schedule, including albums such as Golden Road, Be Here, Fuse, and Graffiti U.
