Early Career and Collegiate Development
Alfred attended Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School from 2013 to 2015 before moving to St. Catherine High School in Jamaica. By 2015, she was a Central American and Caribbean U15 champion and was named Saint Lucia's Junior Sportswoman of the Year in 2015 and 2017. While competing for the University of Texas, she became a three-time individual NCAA Division I champion and the first woman in collegiate history to break the seven-second barrier in the 60 metres.

In 2022, she claimed the 100 metres title at the NCAA Division I Championships and won the inaugural Caribbean Games in Guadeloupe. The following year, she achieved significant markers at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lubbock, Texas, where her 6.97-second 60-metre dash established her among the fastest in world history. By 2023, she reached the finals of both the 100 metres and 200 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Olympic Success and Subsequent Competition
At the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Alfred won gold in the 60 metres, marking Saint Lucia's first world indoor medal. Her performance at the Paris Olympics later that year included a national record of 10.72 seconds to win gold in the 100 metres and a silver medal in the 200 metres. Following these achievements, the Saint Lucian government declared 27 September 2024 as Julien Alfred Day. She continued competing in 2025 and 2026, earning a 100-metre bronze medal at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo and a bronze in the 60 metres at the 2026 World Indoor Championships in Toruń.
