Born in New York City in 1976, Elkann is the son of Alain Elkann and Margherita Agnelli. Elkann began his professional career with a stint at General Electric’s Corporate Audit program. In 2003, he joined IFIL, the entity that would evolve into the holding company Exor. He played a significant role in the turnaround of the Fiat Group, including the 2004 selection of Sergio Marchionne as chief executive officer. By 2011, Elkann became both chairman and CEO of Exor, managing a diversified portfolio that includes Ferrari, CNH Industrial, and Iveco.
Strategic Expansion
Under his leadership, the organization executed the 2021 merger between Fiat Chrysler and the PSA Group to form Stellantis. Elkann also expanded into the media and insurance sectors, notably acquiring a controlling stake in The Economist Group in 2015 and purchasing GEDI Gruppo Editoriale in 2019. His oversight extends to global operations spanning 29 countries and encompassing 14 distinct brands.
