Johan Andrés Mojica Palacio launched his professional football career in 2011 with the Bogotá-based side Academia, showcasing the pace and defensive recovery that would define his trajectory across the Colombian and Spanish leagues. Over the following decade, the left-back established himself as a versatile tactical asset, transitioning from domestic competition to top-tier European leagues and the international stage.

Early Development in Colombia

Born on 21 August 1992 in Cali, Mojica began his professional journey with Academia F.C., debuting on 25 June 2011. He played as an attacking full-back, frequently utilizing his dribbling ability to support the attack. In 2012, he transferred to the newly founded club Llaneros, based in Villavicencio. His ability to cover the entire flank earned him a move to Categoría Primera A side Deportivo Cali in January 2013, where he played under manager Leonel Álvarez before scouts from Spain secured his signature.

Establishment in Spanish Football

Mojica joined Rayo Vallecano in July 2013 on a loan deal, marking his entry into La Liga. His performance at Rayo prompted a permanent move in 2014, followed immediately by a loan to Real Valladolid. During his tenure at Valladolid, Mojica evolved into an attacking left winger, recording nine goals across two seasons and earning a spot in the 2014–15 Segunda División Team of the Season. He later joined Girona FC in 2017, where he was instrumental in the club's promotion to the top flight, eventually signing a long-term contract following his successful loan period.

European Journeys and Recent Transfers

The defender's career expanded to include stints in Italy and across various Spanish clubs. In 2020, he had a short loan spell at Atalanta, appearing in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. Upon his return to Spain, he joined Elche CF, where he produced his most impactful offensive output in La Liga during the 2021–22 season. He later moved to Villarreal CF in 2022 for a reported €5.5 million fee before spending the 2023–24 season on loan with CA Osasuna. In July 2024, he signed a three-year deal with RCD Mallorca.

International Representation

Mojica debuted for the Colombia national team in March 2015. He played a significant role in several major international tournaments, including representing the side at the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and 2026. Furthermore, he was a member of the Colombian squad that advanced to the final of the 2024 Copa América, where they finished as runners-up to Argentina.
