Early Military Service
Born in February 1988 in Qi County, Henan Province, Jiang entered military service in September 2006. His initial role involved operating tanks as a member of the ground forces. He pursued his education at the PLA Army Armored Forces Academy College, completing his studies in 2010. Following his graduation, he successfully transitioned into the aviation sector through the Air Force pilot selection process.

Jiang accumulated over 1,000 hours of safe flight time during his ten-year tenure as a first-class pilot for the PLA Air Force. His military progression included serving as the deputy captain of a flying brigade within an aviation unit. He reached the rank of lieutenant colonel within the PLAAF, establishing a background in high-performance aerial operations prior to his selection for the space program.
Spaceflight Training and Missions
In 2018, Jiang participated in the selection process for the third batch of Chinese taikonauts and was formally inducted in September 2020 as an aerospace flight engineer. His preparation involved rigorous field survival simulations and vestibular training using zero-gravity rotating chairs. In June 2022, he was designated as a system operator for the Shenzhou 17 mission, which resulted in his subsequent deployment to the Tiangong Space Station.
