After joining the 49ers in 1985, Rice established himself as a dominant force by his second season. He led the league in receiving yards and touchdowns six times during his tenure with the franchise. His on-field chemistry with quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young facilitated back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1988 and 1989. In 1987, he recorded 22 receiving touchdowns within a strike-shortened twelve-game season. He added a third Super Bowl title in 1994, cementing his place in NFL history.
Career Conclusion and Legacy
Following a knee injury and his release from San Francisco in 2001, Rice signed a four-year contract with the Oakland Raiders. He contributed to the team's appearance in Super Bowl XXXVII.
