Early Career and Public Sector Service
Clamadieu completed his education at Mines ParisTech before joining the Corps of Mines as a chief engineer in 1983. For his first nine years, he operated primarily within the public sector, serving the French Ministry of Industry and working as a technical advisor to the Minister of Labor.

In 1993, he joined Rhône-Poulenc to oversee activities related to automobile pollution control. By 2003, he became CEO of Rhodia, a firm facing potential bankruptcy. He led the company through a successful turnaround until its acquisition by the Belgian group Solvay in 2011. In 2012, he took over as CEO of Solvay, guiding its integration into a major entity focused on speciality chemicals and advanced materials.
