Early Career and Formula One
Born in 1973 in Roskilde, Denmark, Magnussen quickly ascended through the junior ranks. Following his F1 exit, Magnussen shifted his focus to endurance racing, particularly with Corvette Racing. He achieved four class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2009. His success extended to the 12 Hours of Sebring with wins in 2006, 2008, and 2009, as well as a 2015 class victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona. He claimed the IMSA Sportscar Championship titles in 2017 and 2018, maintaining a high profile in professional sports car circuits.
Touring Car and Late Career
Throughout his career, Magnussen remained active in touring car categories. He secured Danish Touring Car Championship titles in 2003 and 2008, driving for teams including Perfection Racing. In 2010, he made a one-off appearance in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Infineon Raceway, where he finished twelfth. In 2019, he joined the inaugural TCR Denmark Touring Car Series. More recently, in July 2023, he won the Aurum 1006 km endurance race in Lithuania behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 Evo.
