Zobel succeeded his father, Jaime Zobel de Ayala, as the president and chief executive officer of Ayala Corporation in 1994. He served as the firm's chairman and chief executive officer from 2006 until 2021, and he has held the position of chairman since 2016. His professional oversight extends to roles as chairman of the Bank of the Philippine Islands, Ayala Land, Ayala Healthcare Holdings, Inc., Asiacom Philippines Inc., and AC Energy and Infrastructure Corporation.
Professional and Advisory Engagements
Beyond his executive duties at Ayala, Zobel maintains a presence on multiple boards. He serves as a director for AC Ventures Holding Corp, AG Holdings Ltd., and Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited. His advisory contributions include the Harvard Business School Board of Dean's Advisors, the JP Morgan International Council, the Mitsubishi Corporation International Advisory Committee, and the Council for Inclusive Capitalism with the Vatican.
Awards and Recognition
His career features numerous honors, including the World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow award in 1995 and the Management Association of the Philippines Management Man of the Year in 2006. He received the Presidential Medal of Merit in 2009 and the Philippine Legion of Honor, Rank of Grand Commander in 2010. In 2017, the United Nations Global Compact named him one of the Sustainable Development Goals Pioneers.
