During the 2016 contest in Stockholm, he performed in the second semifinal on 12 May, qualifying for the final in seventh place. During the Grand Final on 14 May, he finished 14th overall. While on a promotional tour for the contest in April 2016, he encountered a security incident at Moscow airport, where he reported that border police officials tore his passport and mocked his appearance.
