Inverting her birth name provided the stage moniker for the Moroccan musician and actor Hindi Zahra, who emerged onto the international scene in 2009. Born in Khouribga on 20 January 1979, she built a career defined by self-taught multi-instrumentalism and a multilingual vocal style incorporating English, French, Arabic, and the Berber Shilha language.
Early Life and Relocation
Raised in Khouribga by her mother, who worked as a dancer and actress, Zahra left her schooling at fifteen. She relocated to Paris to reside with her father, a former soldier. By the age of eighteen, she secured employment at the Louvre. These formative years in France provided the environment where she began drafting her earliest lyrics and melodies.
