Beyond his teaching responsibilities, he served as the rector of the university on two separate occasions, first from 1649 to 1650 and later during the 1662 to 1663 academic year.
Philosophical and Scientific Contributions
Operating within the framework of Reformed Christianity, Regius explored the intersection of natural philosophy and medicine. He authored the textbook Fundamenta Physices, which presented his views on natural phenomena. During his career, he maintained a correspondence with René Descartes, reflecting his active involvement in the Cartesian intellectual discourse of the seventeenth century. He also spent time working in Naarden in addition to his primary base in Utrecht.
