Gurbaksh Chahal

American businessman

Selling his first advertising network at sixteen for nearly forty million dollars propelled Gurbaksh Chahal into the upper echelons of the digital marketing industry before he reached adulthood. This early success established a pattern of rapid enterprise development and high-value corporate divestment that defined his career as a serial founder of various internet-based technology ventures.

Early Business Ventures

Born in 1982 in Tarn Taran Sahib, India, Chahal relocated to the United States at age four. Following family financial instability, he entered the workforce early, initially flipping printers for profit on eBay. In 1998, he dropped out of Independence High School to launch ClickAgents, a pay-per-click network. By 2000, the company employed 34 people and was acquired by ValueClick for roughly $40 million, establishing his initial fortune.

Expansion and Acquisition

In 2004, Chahal founded BlueLithium, which focused on behavioral targeting to track user habits for customized advertising. The firm expanded internationally and acquired AdRevolver before being purchased by Yahoo in 2007 for $300 million. At the time of this acquisition, the company stood as the fifth-largest internet advertising network in the United States. He subsequently launched gWallet in 2009, introducing brand bars to video games to drive consumer engagement, which secured $10 million in funding.

Professional Recognition and Turmoil

Throughout the early 2010s, Chahal received significant industry attention, appearing on Bloomberg Businessweek’s list of best young entrepreneurs in 2010 and Ernst and Young's entrepreneur of the year lists in 2013. However, his tenure at subsequent ventures, including RadiumOne and Gravity4, faced volatility following legal issues. In 2013, he was convicted of domestic violence charges, leading to his removal from the CEO position at RadiumOne. Following a second domestic violence charge in 2016, his probation was revoked and he served six months in jail.

Current Status

Chahal continues his involvement in the technology sector as a founder and executive. His portfolio has included companies such as BNN Breaking, and he currently holds the role of CEO at both VendorCloud and RedLotus. His career remains characterized by the rapid founding and management of online advertising and data-focused startups.
