Early Training and Education

She further refined her craft in Paris at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot, where she participated in composition classes led by Nadia Boulanger, alongside violin studies with Carl Flesch and André Touret.

From 1936 to 1938, she served as the concertmaster of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Grzegorz Fitelberg. During the Second World War, she resided in Warsaw, where she participated in clandestine musical performances, including the premiere of her Suite for Two Violins. Following the destruction of Warsaw during the uprising, she briefly relocated to Lublin before resuming her professional life as a professor at the State Conservatoire of Music in Łódź.
Transition to Composition
A severe 1954 car accident resulted in a broken pelvis and fractured ribs, forcing her to retire from active performance. This necessitated a permanent transition to composition as her primary vocation. Her work gained prominence during the post-war era, becoming a fixture at the Warsaw Autumn Festival starting in 1956. Her output included seven violin concertos, seven string quartets, and four numbered symphonies.
Honors and Legacy
Over her lifetime, she received numerous distinctions for her contributions to music, including the Knight of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Medal of the 10th Anniversary of People's Poland, the Commander of the Order of Polonia Restituta, and both the 1st and 2nd class of the Work Flag Order. She died in 1969 in Warsaw and is interred at the Powązki Military Cemetery.
