The international career of Giourkas Seitaridis peaked in 2004 when he was named to the UEFA Team of the Tournament following Greece's victory at Euro 2004. Born in Piraeus in 1981, the defender operated primarily as a right-back, rising through the professional ranks in Greece before securing high-profile transfers to Portugal, Russia, and Spain over a fifteen-year career.
Early Career and Rise
Seitaridis began his professional path in 1997 with the northern Greek club PAS Giannina, known as the Ajax of Epirus. He contributed to their 1999–2000 promotion to the Super League Greece, scoring five goals across 40 league appearances. In January 2001, he joined Athens-based Panathinaikos on a five-year contract valued at 300 million drachmas. That same year, he earned the Greek Young Footballer award and netted his first European goal against Manchester United in the Champions League.

Following the success of Euro 2004, Seitaridis moved to F.C. Porto for a reported €3 million. His stint there included winning the Portuguese SuperCup and the Intercontinental Cup. In 2005, he transferred to Dynamo Moscow for €10 million, though he struggled to adapt to the climate and managed only eight league appearances before departing. He subsequently joined Atlético Madrid in 2006 for €12 million. His tenure in Spain was marked by recurring injuries, including a damaged achilles tendon in 2007, and disciplinary issues that culminated in his release in 2009.
Return to Panathinaikos
In September 2009, Seitaridis returned to Panathinaikos on a four-year deal. His second spell was complicated by persistent fitness issues and muscle injuries, limiting his impact on the pitch. Despite winning the 2009–10 league and cup double, he missed the cup final due to injury. He saw declining playing time over the following seasons, recording only one assist in a 2012–13 Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur before leaving the club in 2013.
