Professional Trajectory and Techint Group
Rocca earned a physics degree from the University of Milan and a PMD from Harvard Business School before joining the Techint Group in 1974. By 1980, he managed corporate activities across Italy, Europe, and Mexico. As chairman, he oversees a portfolio that includes Tenaris, Ternium, Techint Engineering & Construction, Tenova, Tecpetrol, and Humanitas. In 2018, the group supported a workforce of 57,100 people.

During the 1990s, Rocca founded the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano, Milan, which evolved into a major international teaching and research facility. He established Humanitas University in 2014, specifically focusing on life sciences. His work in healthcare management has been documented through case studies at Harvard University, reflecting his strategy of integrating clinical operations with academic instruction and the creation of an International Medical School.
Public Service and Institutional Governance
Rocca has held numerous governance roles within Italy's industrial and educational frameworks. He served as president of Assolombarda from 2013 to 2017 and held vice-presidential roles at Confindustria. His board memberships include Luigi Bocconi University, Brembo SPA, and Buzzi Unicem SpA. Internationally, he participates in the Trilateral Commission, the European Round Table of Industrialists, and the advisory boards of Harvard Business School and the Beth Israel Medical Center.
Awards and Personal Interests
In recognition of his economic contributions, Rocca received the Order of Merit for Labour. In 2009, he was granted an honorary degree in Management Engineering by Milan Politecnico and received the 2009 Leonardo Award from President Giorgio Napolitano. In 2018, President Sergio Mattarella appointed him Commendatore. Beyond business, he is a mountaineer associated with the Ragni di Lecco group, having participated in a 1970 expedition to Cerro Torre.
