Gabriel Agbonlahor

Gabriel Imuetinyan Agbonlahor, born on 13 October 1986 in Erdington, spent the entirety of his professional career as a forward with Aston Villa. A product of the club's academy, he achieved 391 total appearances and maintained a long-standing status as the team's leading Premier League goalscorer until May 2025, when the record was surpassed by Ollie Watkins.

Early Career and Development

Before joining Aston Villa in 1994, Agbonlahor played for Great Barr Falcons and represented his district. Although scouted by Wolverhampton Wanderers, he chose to develop through the youth ranks at Villa. In June 2005, he signed a two-year professional contract. Later that year, he gained senior experience through loan spells at Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, making his senior debut for Watford on 28 September 2005.

Premier League Integration

Agbonlahor made his Premier League debut for Aston Villa on 18 March 2006 against Everton under manager David O'Leary. He scored during this match, marking the beginning of an eleven-season tenure in the league. By the 2006-07 season, he became a consistent presence under Martin O'Neill, notably scoring against the 'Big Four' teams and securing a vital win against Birmingham City in November 2007.

Professional Milestones

The 2008-09 season saw Agbonlahor sign a four-year contract extension. On 17 August 2008, he scored a perfect hat-trick against Manchester City in seven minutes, the third-fastest in Premier League history. His domestic contributions included 74 goals across 11 consecutive league campaigns. Beyond club football, he earned three caps for the England senior national team after making his debut in 2008.
