He pioneered complex surgical interventions for esophageal and mediastinal conditions, pancreatic cancer, aortic aneurysms, and lung diseases. His academic contributions were recognized with the Lenin Prize in 1961, and he remained a member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, influencing generations of surgeons through his established surgical school.
