Academic Career and Institutional Founding
Educated at Leipzig University and the University of Jena, Schulze began his tenure as a professor in Jena in 1821. He founded an agricultural institute there, providing a practical academic framework for farming. In 1832, he moved to the University of Greifswald, where he established a similar training school at Eldena in 1834. These institutions served as models, exerting a wide influence on agricultural education across Germany.

Beyond his teaching and research, Schulze served in senior leadership roles within the university system. He held the position of rector of the University of Jena on two separate occasions: first from 1843 to 1844, and later from 1854 to 1855. These periods of administration occurred during his long association with the institution in Jena, where he returned in 1839 after his time in Greifswald.
Economic Writings and Legacy
Schulze produced several texts detailing his economic and agricultural theories. Following his death in 1860, his work continued to circulate, with the posthumous 'Lehrbuch der allgemeinen Landwirtschaft' released in 1863. A memorial was erected to honor his contributions in Jena in 1867.
