Eric Saade

Eric Khaled Saade rose to prominence as a Swedish pop artist and television presenter following his early membership in the boy band What's Up!. Born in 1990 in Kattarp, he successfully transitioned from group performances to a significant solo career, eventually representing Sweden at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest where he earned a third-place finish.

Early Career and Boy Band Origins

Saade began his professional music trajectory in 2007 as a founding member of the boy band What's Up!. The group, which emerged from a competition at the Ericsson Globe, released the album In Pose and several singles including Go Girl! and If I Told You Once. During this period, Saade also engaged in work for the Disney Channel, specifically dubbing characters and performing on the Swedish soundtrack for Camp Rock.

Solo Transition and Melodifestivalen

In 2009, Saade signed with Roxy Recordings to initiate his solo career. He debuted with the single Sleepless before gaining domestic attention at Melodifestivalen 2010. His entry, Manboy, reached number one on the Swedish single and ringtone charts and eventually achieved platinum status. This period solidified his presence in the Swedish music industry, leading to his debut studio album, Masquerade, which reached number two on the Swedish charts.

Eurovision Success and Studio Albums

The year 2011 marked a high point in his career when he won Melodifestivalen with the track Popular. This victory allowed him to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, securing third place for Sweden. Following this success, he released the two-part studio projects Saade Vol. 1 and Saade Vol. 2. Saade Vol. 1 topped the Swedish charts and received platinum certification shortly after its release.
