Early Development and Berlin Residency
Born in West Berlin in 1968, Fraatz began engaging with electronic music after spending time in London in 1989. Following her return to Germany, she secured residency slots at major venues including the Bunker, Tresor, and E-Werk by 1992. During this period, she hosted a program on Kiss FM under the name Braincandy, a title she also assigned to her initial record label before distribution difficulties led her to close the imprint in 1997.

In 1999, she founded the BPitch Control label, which served as a platform for artists such as Modeselektor, Paul Kalkbrenner, and Apparat. The label expanded in 2005 with the creation of the sub-label Memo Musik, which focused on minimal tech and minimal house sounds. This period of administrative growth coincided with a prolific output of studio albums, including Thrills in 2005 and her 2006 collaboration with Apparat titled Orchestra of Bubbles.
Evolution of Sound and Performance
Throughout the 2010s, her work moved toward genre-bending compositions, evidenced by the 2013 release of LISm, a project developed for the dance performance Drama Per Musica which premiered in Paris in 2011. She continued to manage club culture through her bi-monthly event, We Are Not Alone, originally hosted at the Berlin venue Griessmühle before relocating to RSO.berlin in 2020. Her 2019 launch of the UFO Inc. label further diversified her catalog, signaling a continued commitment to acid techno.
